Hi, I’m Meredith, caregiver and creator of Meredith & Co., a neighborhood care company designed to bring community back into child care.
Oldest of five, I grew up in a big family living abroad until I was 12. I read a lot of Little House on the Prairie, traveled all over the world and spent a lot time caring for each little baby that joined our family. I spent most of my time in imaginary worlds with my siblings/best friends and acquiring a solid British education and accent at our tiny local international school. Upon middle school we relocated to Los Angeles where I was transplanted into a classic suburban public school world. (Wore overall shorts on the first day of 7th grade. Oops!) I went off to college to study journalism and attended Claremont Graduate University for Applied Women’s Studies where I studied women and work, gender and child care and the economics of the household. I’m passionate about feminism, gender equitable parenting, togetherness, pursuing joy, balance and adventure in life. Professionally I have done full time nannying, freelance caregiving, daycare enrollment, been a preschool aide, and a children and family services director. Now, I spend time adventuring around my Pasadena neighborhood with my favorite new humans and connecting families and caregivers in my neighborhood.
Knowing and caring for dozens of families has enriched my life tremendously. I get fresh insight, wisdom and thinking from each home I visit and each little human I care for. I learn new ways of enjoying daily life, understanding myself and caring for others. Your stories, ideas, feelings, and lives share common threads that have broadened my worldview and brought welcome perspective to my journey. This is a place for listening, sharing and connecting with your neighbors.
Welcome to Meredith’s Neighborhood.
